Thank you for Cooper sitting softly by my side
I am drawn to the short white hairs growing from the edge of his lower lip, the smooth black-gray of that lip, the minute dimples along its outer edge I have never noticed, and his nose, wet and flaring, with a pattern like scales, and his salt-and-pepper coat, dense and wavy like the dark Atlantic, and suddenly, I think to myself, You know the numbers of it all... You know it all...
An Invitation
What word, phrase, or image captures your attention in today’s poem?
What stirs in you emotionally or physically as you sit with today’s poem? What is is that you need to allow yourself to name, to feel, or to remember?
Consider reading the poem one more time, asking the Holy Spirit, What invitation are you holding out to me through these words today? What are you inviting me to pay attention to, or to become more curious about?
As always, I invite you to share your thoughts in the comments below, or to shoot me a message. Hearing how each poem or prayer speaks to you is always so encouraging, and it presents an opportunity for us to learn from one another. Thank you again for being here, friends!
